Colin Farrell Joins Film Adaptation of Ordained Graphic Novel

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Colin Farrell has joined the action-thriller Ordained, collaborating with the Russo brothers. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the film is based on a graphic novel, and several studios and streaming platforms have already expressed interest in acquiring it. The Ordained comic, written by Robert Venditti and illustrated by Trevor Hairsine and Dave Stewart, will be published on December 10.

Derek Kolstad, known for John Wick, is writing the screenplay and producing the project alongside Dinesh Shamdasani and Benjamin Sipsion from the publishing label Bad Idea.

Farrell will play a priest named Father Roy Craig, who prays over the dying leader of a criminal organization after he miraculously survives. But the priest demands that the crime boss first confess his sins. Soon, Father Roy finds himself hunted by assassins, corrupt police officers, and criminals sent by the gang leader to silence him. The priest, however, has a violent past—one that makes him a dangerous target for anyone who comes after him.

Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are producing the film through AGBO, while Farrell and his sister Claudine Farrell are also producing via Chapel Place.

Farrell was recently nominated for an Emmy for HBO’s The Penguin and is set to reprise his role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II. He recently starred in Netflix’s Ballad of a Small Player and in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey in theaters, and will return for Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Sugar.
